If you walked into FEC Senior on 14th August, you might have wondered whether you had entered a school or accidentally stepped into a very enthusiastic green-and-white celebration! Pakistani flags were everywhere, children were proudly dressed in green and white, and hands decorated with painted flags were waving as if the whole school had suddenly become a patriotic parade ground.

The celebrations for Pakistan’s Independence Day were the result of days of preparation, practice and, of course, a fair amount of “Once again from the top, please!” Teachers worked tirelessly with students to prepare an exciting programme filled with skits, songs, dances and speeches. Behind every confident performance on stage were countless rehearsals, corrections, costume checks and teachers wondering, “Did we practise this part already?”

The school corridors and classrooms buzzed with excitement as children prepared for their performances. Students learned songs, perfected dance steps, practised speeches and rehearsed their roles until they could probably perform them in their sleep. The teachers, meanwhile, became directors, choreographers, costume managers and motivational speaker all at once!

One of the biggest highlights was the Grade VIII A skit, “Pakistan.” Their performance was so impressive, energetic and entertaining that it clearly deserved an encore. And an encore it got! The skit was later re-enacted at the Award Day, proving that a truly memorable performance does not need just one stage.

The celebrations were not limited to the auditorium. Food stalls added another delicious dimension to the festivities, filling the school with tempting aromas and plenty of excited children. Students were also encouraged to come dressed in green and white and proudly painted Pakistani flags on their hands. Everywhere one looked, there were little flags, big smiles and an unmistakable feeling of national pride.

The day was more than a celebration; it was a wonderful reminder that patriotism can be joyful, creative and shared. From rehearsals to performances, painted hands to food stalls, FEC Senior celebrated Pakistan with heart, energy and plenty of jazba.

And when the last song ended and the flags finally stopped waving, one thing was certain: FEC Senior had not simply celebrated Independence Day, it had painted the entire school green and white and given Pakistan a celebration to remember!
